Our Team

Jerome Marcus is President and Co-Founder of the The Deborah Project, a public interest law firm dedicated to defending Jewish civil rights and confronting antisemitism and anti-Zionist discrimination in educational and public institutions. A seasoned attorney with more than 35 years of experience in both private practice and government service, Marcus brings deep legal and strategic expertise to complex civil rights matters. ​ He is a graduate of the University of Chicago’s college, business, and law schools and has served in senior roles including Assistant U.S. Attorney and Special Assistant to the Legal Advisor at the U.S. Department of State. Through The Deborah Project, Marcus has acted as pro bono lead counsel in high-profile cases challenging discriminatory policies, anti-Israel resolutions, and unlawful institutional conduct, helping set important precedents and protect the rights of Jewish students, faculty, and organizations.
